Goal Attainment – GNAC II Conference
According to the locals, GNAC II was the first international conference of its kind held in the camp since its founding in 2011. We had over 100 people from 10 countries attend the three-day event that featured testimonies from Nuba pastors and laymen who have experienced persecution at the hands of the Khartoum regime, as well as divine protection and mercy. In addition, there were presentations from organizations covering GNAC’s Four Pillars: Gospel Outreach, Relief, Education and Capacity Building (or Community Transformation). There was also a people group project, and a strategy session in which three areas within the Nuba Mts were chosen to begin work. Then, the attendees were divided up to begin planning and implementing programs covering each of the four pillars in those geographic locations.
The closing of the conference was a joyous and spirit-filled event. The theme verse: “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”, from 1 Cor. 3:11 resounded, and it was clear the Foundation had been laid for future growth. We along with the Nuba themselves sang and praised God for the good things He has done in the midst of trial and persecution.
That was January 2016. The next conference is being planned for this coming November in Uganda where thousands of refugees have flocked both from the Nuba diaspora and South Sudan. We are continuing to build on the strong Foundation of past gatherings and hope to continue to see new partnerships and collaborations as a result.
